There’s a man standing down the street on that Beatle’s album, in his grey tweed jacket, glasses, watching John Paul Ringo George cross the crossing. He’d got the afternoon off work. This is what he thinks: ‘Cor! Strike a Light! There they are!’ He has seen, but seen through, the cameraman, the makeup girl, an unwanted gentleman from the press. Such figures lose focus when you watch The Beatles. Perhaps he’s invaded a photo or two. ‘I did! I’m sure I did! I stood around for long enough while they were unaware!’ If they hadn’t given him the afternoon off… Thank heavens for small mercies.
But as he went to inform The Wife, hurling his jacket on the lounge chair, polishing thoses glasses with a new sense of now, he noticed two brands of cigarette in her ashtray. Small things are bigger on closer inspection.
bonanza!
Nice, short, snappy and nice. I’ve even gone back and looked at the man in the picture on wikipedia. I feel sorry for him now. Nice use of italics – i like emphasis.
I think i’ll join you on your story writing endeavour, maybe even start my own blog. Not that i’m copying you or anything, but hey maybe i am. I’ll get myself set up this weekend, maybe even partake in the drawing of an album cover. I WILL START TO LIVE YOUR LIFE!!!! HARHARHAR — yes.
or maybe not, we’ll see
